House on the Rock B and B is operated by Bill & Lorna Wise. The name for our Valdez bed and breakfast is based on the verse and song: "The wise man built his house on the Rock."
We both are well traveled and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. We love Valdez Alaska and the beautiful scenery and the ability to stock our freezer with fish and game.
Since we love meeting new friends so much, we wanted to make our lodging in Valdez Alaska be the most appealing place to stay in Valdez, and better than the other bed & breakfasts and hotels in Valdez Alaska. We sometimes have our new friends up for dinner because we want to get to know you.
We want you to be able to relax in comfort and enjoy the beauty. That’s why we have a massage chair, and work hard to make our flower beds beautiful. You can't beat that for a Valdez, Alaska bed and breakfast, or even the Valdez Alaska hotels, inns, or other lodging. Once you've stayed with us, we're sure you'll agree that you stayed at the best bed and breakfast. We want everyone to have a chance to meet other people from all around the world, but also be have their own privacy in our bed & breakfast hotel style rooms.
You will enjoy many beautiful flowers in the flower pots and flower beds on the grounds of House on the Rock B & B, because we want you to enjoy the beauty.
Hi Bill and Lorna,
I so appreciate your hospitality. You certainly went out of your way to make me feel welcome and comfortable at your beautiful B & B lodging in Valdez Alaska. I loved the nice family atmosphere. The immaculate kitchen, dining area, and living room made me feel right at home; and the massage chair was better than home.
It was also great having a clean convenient laundry room instead of having to go to a Laundromat.
I really appreciated that everything was so clean. The carpets seem brand new, but without that new chemical smell. I usually don't feel comfortable sleeping in a motel bed, but your extra soft sheets, blanket, comforter, and new fluffy pillows made me feel pampered. The bedding was soft, warm and cozy, without being heavy.
Thank you for giving me the option of buying my own groceries and using the B&B refrigerator and freezer space; and of preparing my own meals in the microwave and toaster oven, whenever I chose to. Thanks also for the tips of where to eat out when I wanted to.
The local maps and suggestions of places to check out during my stay in Valdez were very helpful.
I probably would have missed some of Valdez's great museums, and nice walking trails on my own.
Thanks for telling me about the many community events that go on in Valdez that I could participate in. A highlight, was a free concert with a free outdoor buffet that included freshly caught salmon, and a view of the snow capped mountains and beautiful waters of Prince William Sound.
You are great hosts. I had never before been invited to have dinner at a bed and breakfast, but you invited me upstairs to your part of the house to eat dinner with your family. Your smoked salmon dip tasted much better than any I had ever tasted. It was quite apparent that your children are proud of your special recipe and their part in helping catch the fish for the family's food supply. I really felt privileged that I got to share in a meal that the main course was some moose that Bill had bagged on one of his hunting trips. I can see that hunting and fishing is not just for fun in your family. It is a big part of each year's food supply. Thank you for the delicious meal topped off with Alaska's classic Moose Tracks, and Caribou Caramel ice cream for dessert. I had a delightful time with you sharing a delicious meal and stories of your travels throughout the world and in Alaska.
You really helped make my Valdez experience a memorable one. Because of one of your inside tips, I even got to see and film a bear up close, eating salmon. My friends and family are quite impressed when I show them my iPad videos of bears.
Our stay at House on the Rock Bed and Breakfast was great in a newly remodeled and very clean home in a quiet residential neighborhood. The Alaskan theme rooms are nicely decorated and each room has a private bathroom with shower and flat screen TV. A shared kitchen and living room just for the guests has a bonus of a massage chair in the living room. The owners were friendly and helpful at this great lodging in Valdez Alaska.

I stayed 5 nights at this Bed and Breakfast and absolutely loved it. Everything you see in the photos is 100% accurate. Owner is very friendly and easy to talk with. She lets you have your privacy but is there to answer questions and give great information about Valdez and Alaska. Everything was extremely clean and very well stocked with supplies and food for breakfast. The setting is neighborhood residential but very quiet, and not traffic noise at night. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel at home. It was so refreshing to talk to other guests from other countries and different parts of the USA also. Each room has a key for your privacy and security. I would stay here anytime I could if going to Valdez. LOVED IT!!!!
Thank you so much for the warm hospitality. We appreciate it a lot and will tell our friends about your amazing B & B.
